Eating habits keeping me up at night?

I'm 28 and weight 210 lbs. (97kilos) down from 240. I am currently working out everyday by running either 3-4 miles or swimming 1000-1200 meters and lifting weights. I met with a nutritionist to examine my eating patterns and she told me my high sugar consumption at night is keeping me up. I usually drank about a bottle of red wine before sleep which also lead to binge eating. Before this I would usually drink some dark beers (stouts or porters like Guinness). Could this really account for my trouble with sleeping? (BTW, I've seriously cut back my consumption of alcohol but still have issues with sleep and binge eating after 9.) Could this be a sugar or alcohol withdrawal? Any suggestions?
