How to get low income housing?

I am 32 weeks pregnant. I do receive Welfare and Wic. My living situation isn't too comfortable and i've been thinking about getting a place for me and my daughter in a couple months. I know nothing about low income housing, section 8 or whatever it's called. I don't even know if i qualify. It's just me and my daughter No income other then cash aid. And I wanted to see if n e of u had any info on this subject or had any advice on the best way to go about gettin and apartment/house.
